BANDIT
LIGHTING DESIGNER USES INDUSTRY EXPERTISE TO TEACH
COURSES AT BELMONT UNIVERSITY
Nashville, TN- Belmont
University is now offering courses in Tour Production
Management and Production Design, compliments of Bandit
Lighting Designer, Chris Lisle. An experienced Tour
Manager and Lighting Designer, Lisle is currently
the lighting designer for Country Music Superstars,
Sara Evans and Phil Vassar.
Lisle was brought
on board as an instructor at Belmont after doing the
2006 Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business
Showcase Series, a student production put on by Belmont
University students. After the showcase series ended,
several students went to the Dean and commented that
during the showcase series, Lisle was very good at
explaining things. They thought he would be a great
teacher.
Bandit Business Development
Officer, Brent Barrett commented on Chris’ involvement,
“When we were looking for someone to design
the 06/07 Concert Series, Chris very graciously gave
of his time to do so without hesitation. Chris Lisle
has the talent, knowledge, attitude and approachability
to serve as a very positive role model in our industry
as well as an instructor at Belmont University.”
Spring of ’07,
Lisle taught his first course at Belmont, Tour Production
Management, to a maxed out classroom. Tour Production
Management is a practicum-based study of tour-support
personnel and their responsibilities including pre-production
planning, technical coordination, transportation logistics,
and the associated contracts and organizational paperwork.
Special emphasis is placed on the role of the “production”
and “tour” manager.
This fall he is teaching
that course again and has added Production Design.
Production Design is a practicum-based study of concert
and live event production elements including lighting,
custom sets, softgoods and special effects. Special
emphasis is placed on concert lighting equipment,
design, programming and direction. Both courses are
currently being offered as electives.
Lisle is also bringing
guest lecturers from Bandit to expand on course elements.
Bandit newly appointed Technical Services Manager,
Jake Tickle recently gave a lecture on moving lights.
When asked why he decided to take on this new role,
Lisle commented, “Initially it was the prospect
of a new challenge. I like working with people and
it was something I knew would keep me busy. More than
anything though, I enjoy sharing my experiences.”
“Chris’
involvement with the Mike Curb College of Entertainment
and Music Business has allowed us to begin educating
our students in the field of concert lighting production,”
commented Belmont University Representative, Mike
Bannon. “Chris’ knowledge and experience
in this field is an invaluable asset to our students
and has greatly increased the quality of education
they receive.”
