AT 40: Don Lockridge
Job Title: Project Manager
The people are what
sets Bandit Lites apart from the rest of the industry.
Once a week, for 40 weeks, Bandit will showcase an
employee that has made a substantial contribution
to the company, whether it be in an office, on the
road or somewhere in between. Bandit would not be
celebrating its 40th Anniversary without the hard
work and dedication of every one these employees.*

Don Lockridge started
out in the entertainment business as a musician. Now
a Project Manager with Bandit Lites, Lockridge works
closely with the Bandit client reps, lighting designers,
and the crews in the prep of high-quality lighting
systems. Here are a few questions we asked to get
to know him a little better.
Q. Why and how did
you get involved with Bandit?
A. Like many others in this industry, I came into
it as a frustrated musician. I worked for a competing
lighting company in the Nashville area that Bandit
acquired during the 80’s. Fortunately, on my
last day of work there I was able to meet Mike Strickland
who offered me a few days work moving the equipment
to Bandit’s facility. That was 1987 and I’m
still working at Bandit today!
Q. How has your job
changed or evolved over the years?
A. The first 15 years of my Bandit career, I was a
technician on the road. I was invited to join the
office staff about 6 years ago. Fortunately, for old
guys like me, Bandit does offer a life after the road.
Q. In your opinion,
what is the most significant technological advancement
since you started working in the entertainment industry
and why?
A. I would say
LED technology, media servers, and the integration
of video and lighting in general. As one who began
in the days of analog controllers and PAR can rigs,
I can’t help but be amazed at how far we’ve
come. With smaller power requirements, I believe it
will lead to much more environmentally friendly systems,
not to mention the creative possibilities are incredible.
Q. What is the best
part of working for Bandit?
A. The opportunities I‘ve had to tour the world
with some of Bandit’s most awesome clients!
The Judds, Alan Jackson, Brooks and Dunn, R.E.M, and
Garth Brooks are just a few. Also, it has been my
pleasure to work with some of the most talented designers
and crews in the world! How cool is that?
